Anime Clay For years I have actively searched through the internet for anime art to adore. After creating a large collection of my favorite artists, I decided it could be nice to share. In America, I feel that much of the anime fandom neglects the artists and their style and pays more attention to the characters -- often paying no respect to the artist/source even if they like it. As an artist myself, this makes me pretty upset. I made this blog hoping to change that around. You can call me Miq, Enjoy the artists, here at Anime Clay.

Covering a wide array of emotions, subjects and techniques, the artist Sono (そおの) creates a intriguingly varied and charming body of work. Sono’s watercolor-esque style of painting is present in most of her work, giving it a pleasant texture and lighting depth. Interestingly, Sono is very skilled at backgrounds/settings yet she often has virtually no background or one that is design based and flat. It is this sort of contrast — between painterly, perspective based images and flat, design based images — that impresses me most with Sono and keeps me interested in her work.

The classy, sexy, and living art of Studio Amatiz has been a favorite of mine for some time. This Taiwanese artist takes a rare traditional (looking) approach to the anime style with faces and anatomy that can just barely be called anime.
